It's A Colorful Life Home Tour - 2021 Holiday Edition
Happy holidays! We’re in the thick of all the holiday buzz and I wanted to pause for a moment to share some of our holiday decor. I was asked to be a part of It’s A Colorful Life Tour - 2021 Holiday Edition along with many other coloring loving home bloggers. Scroll down to take a peak in our festive Spier home this holiday season!
We keep our holiday decor simple and traditional. Think boxwood wreaths, velvet ribbon, and ginger jars galore. Outside we always stick to clear white lights and to work with our pergola out front we like to hang “floating” wreaths. This year we took it up a notch and lit the 3 smaller ones under the pergola (last year only the large 60” was aglow). I purchased fake wreaths to use year after year and just added a simple white velvet ribbon.
My favorite room is our dining room. You won’t find any over the top holiday decor, but subtle elements throughout the room. In here I’ve used garlands (bar cart & mantel), nutcrackers, and boxwood wreaths with blue velvet ribbon. This year we added a magnolia leaf garland to the stair banister tied with green velvet ribbon as a place to hang out holiday cards as they arrive.
This year is hands down my favorite tree yet. I found an inspiration image on Pinterest early on which pictured velvet bows and faux candles on the tree and knew I wanted to recreate it. I love this look paired with all our family ornaments and woven tree collar at the base. I was lucky to discover Emily Quigley art and received some of her wrapping paper and gifts tags to complete this transitional yet grandmillennial style tree.
Our massive mantel in our living room is a sure showstopper. It’s always decked out with ginger jars and I knew I wanted to dress some of them up for the holidays with boxwood wreaths. In all honesty the mantel isn’t quite ready for it’s big reveal. I had a gorgeous 12 foot magnolia leaf garland made but sadly due to shipping delays it won’t arrive in time for this blog post. Check by on IG as it’s due to arrive later this week and I’ll post an update.
Last but not least, I ordered these cute gingham bow wreaths for our kitchen cabinets just to spread the cheer into my rooms this year. That’s it for 2021, the longer we live in this home we’re learning what decor works and what doesn’t, so stay turned and it’ll be even better next year!
