New Canaan Coastal Cottage
It’s that time again- BEFORE & AFTER. I know how much you all love a good transformation and this is a great one! While our house is full of projects, I wanted to switch it up this week and show you a friend’s house that I helped style.
Just to clarify- I get asked all the time if I’m an interior designer - the answer is no in case you were wondering. BUT I do love all things interiors and could style, decorate, and redecorate for days on end. Occasionally, I have some local mama friends ask for tips in the decorating department and I recently offered to help my friend, Caitlin Farr, redo her dining room and living room area.

As you can see it was dark, outdated, and needed a facelift. Cait had always envisioned an all white space and I couldn’t have agreed more. After a few coats of paint the room was transformed- brighter and refreshed. She also had her chairs reupholstered in a textured white fabric that helped bring the space to life.
Fortunately, Cait has a great eye when it comes to decorating and she really just needed a wing man to help make final decisions. The project kicked off and got momentum when we picked out a fun fabric (Kravet Brookhaven) to incorporate into her drapes. It has different shades of light blues making it easy to pull soft blue accents around the room. She used Thibaut Narragansett wallpaper in her sitting area which tied everything together nicely.
Cait’s decorating style consists of a lot of whites and other neutrals and as you all know I’m huge color advocate. I was mainly along for the ride to encourage adding a few pops of color here and there.
I love how Cait likes to incorporate natural fibers and texture into her home. We were able to get all the Serena and Lily feels without the high price points. Think “coastal farmhouse cottage” SO much fun helping a friend with her home - more styling projects on the way!
