Spruce Up Your Entryway: Simple Updates for a Fresh First Impression

The entryway is the first thing guests see when they walk into your home — and it should reflect your personal style while setting the tone for the rest of your space. If yours feels a bit outdated or uninspired, don’t worry! It’s easier than you might think to breathe new life into this important area.

Over the past few months, I decided it was time to give our entryway a little TLC. With just a few updates, we’ve transformed it from a basic, underwhelming space into a welcoming and functional entry point to our home. In today’s post, I’m excited to share how we spruced up our entryway with some simple changes that make a big difference.

Before: The Space Needed Some Love
When we first moved into our home, our entryway was far from the welcoming space we envisioned. The walls were bare, there was limited storage, and the overall vibe felt cold and uninviting. We knew it was time for a makeover, but we wanted to keep it simple — no major renovations, just thoughtful updates that would make the most of what we already had.

After: A Fresh and Functional Look
With a little creativity and a few key additions, we completely transformed the space! Here’s what we did:

  • Painted the Walls: A fresh coat of paint can instantly brighten up any space. We went with a soft neutral color that feels fresh and airy but still adds warmth.

  • Added a Statement Mirror: A large mirror not only reflects light and makes the space feel bigger, but it also serves as a beautiful focal point when you first walk in.

  • Updated Lighting: Replacing an old, dated light fixture with something modern and stylish was a game-changer. It immediately elevated the space and provided better lighting for those dark mornings and evenings.

  • Functional Storage: We added a stylish bench with hidden storage underneath to help keep shoes and bags neatly tucked away. A few baskets by the door also help corral keys and other small items.

  • Cozy Textiles: A plush rug and a few throw pillows on the bench make the space feel more inviting and comfortable. It’s all about adding touches that make you and your guests feel at home.

  • Fresh Greenery: A couple of houseplants add life and color to the space. They’re the perfect way to bring in a bit of nature without overwhelming the area.

The Result: The entryway now feels like a cozy, functional space that sets the tone for the rest of our home. It's welcoming, organized, and stylish — and all it took were a few simple changes!

I’ve included some before and after photos below so you can see the transformation for yourself. I’ve also added a full list for all my favorite entryway must haves below!
