Dining Room: Stage 1

Next up on the home tour is our dining room. I love so many aspects of the space, particularly the fireplace and the beams in the ceiling. I’ve always wanted a dining room with a working fireplace as it adds a cozy element and I can’t wait to host many holidays in there with family and friends. In this post, I’ll share some furniture pieces and fabrics that I’m considering for the space. I’m excited to bring you all along with me as I plan the room!

As I mentioned in a previous post, we’ve done some painting here (just the beams and fireplace), but other than that it is just our old dining room furniture moved into the new space. Over time, we plan to refresh the dining chairs, find a great piece of art for above the mantel, new drapes, and purchase a proper sideboard. We currently have our blue and white bone inlay console acting as a buffet because we did not have enough space in our previous home, but it doesn’t quite do the trick. We may or may not paint the walls, at the moment they are a soft gray color that I like and I’ll make a decision once I have more clarity into which fabric I’ll be using for the drapes.

Check out the fabrics below to see what’s currently in the running for the curtains. As you all know I’m huge fan of all things blue, but leaning towards soft greens in here at the moment. The entire house can’t be blue and white, right?

Current dining room chair contenders -

Want a screen for the corner where our navy etagere currently lives -

And last but not least some sideboard options -

The only update that we’ve made so far is purchasing a new rug. While I loved the beautiful colors in our previous one, I’d rather have more fun with the curtains and decided to go with a neutral braided jute rug (just arrived!). Looking forward to sharing more updates as they roll in!
