Pendant Lighting
I think this has been my favorite round up yet! There are so many pendant beauties out there that it was hard to narrow it down. Here are some tips to help make the right light choice for your space:
Scale of the Room- First and foremost you will want to consider the scale. What size pendant do you need in the room? How many will you need to illuminate the area? A row of three smaller pendants look beautiful over a kitchen island where as one larger pendant over a bed can balance the room nicely. You’ll want to take into account the ceiling height and any objects in the room that the pendants might hang above. Choose fixtures that will neither overshadow the most subtle elements of the space nor get lost amid the largest ones.
Where? They're most commonly seen above kitchen islands, but pendants can appear in almost any room of the home. They can define the space down a hallway, over an entryway or take the place of sconces in a bathroom. You’ll want to make sure that they compliment the room with their color, texture, size and illumination.
How to hang? Pendants are installed 28 to 36 inches above the surface they'll light.
Full disclosure these are not all budget friendly, but I could not resist including some of these works of art. Pendant lights can make a big statement in a room and since the eye will be drawn to them, I place them in the “worth the investment” category. Make an effort to save in other areas of the space if necessary.
