Powder Room Pretty

Earlier this week One King’s Lane shared a photo of our powder room on their Instagram feed #beyondflattered. So naturally, this felt like the perfect time to share our powder room before and after with you all. To say that she’s come a long way is an understatement!

I’ll start with the BEFORE images-

**WARNING WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SEE IS NOT PRETTY**

BEFORE- Shower & Toilet

To sum it up in a few words - HOT MESS. I’m not a fan of the whole pink tile trend of the 1950s then add some black tile to mix and I’m completely appalled. And of course, the black pedestal sink with matching black toilet really sealed the deal.

As you can see it was previously a full bathroom with a working shower. However, it is the only bathroom we have on the first floor of our home and we needed it to be more open and functional. We didn’t see a need for a shower there and knew that by removing it we would give us that extra space we needed.

Now for the pretty part-

I have always wanted a wallpapered powder room and I knew this was my chance. As you all know I could spend days oohing and ahhing over different wallpaper options, but when it came down to decision time it was pretty easy. Obviously, I wanted something colorful and chinoiserie, but I also wanted to keep it light, bright, and feminine. When I came across Cole and Sons Fontainebleau, I knew we had a winner.

Adding the wainscoting to the powder room was somewhat of a last minute decision. I had always admired the look and thought it would compliment the wallpaper nicely, so we went for it. I searched One Kings Lane for the perfect gold bamboo mirror and it all came together! We couldn’t be happier with the end results- pretty and practical.
